We’re excited to be releasing two new ciders this We’re excited to be releasing two new ciders this weekend. They’ll be available Saturday at the shop and at the Heart’s market on Sunday. And hopefully very soon for online ordering. First, we’ve got our first PetNat Nat of the 2025 harvest. This is co-ferment with Vidal grape skins, very lightly petillant, partly by design and partly because the cider maker was a little late getting in bottle. Lovely tropical notes in the bouquet and palette with a kick of grapefruit on the finish. Some lovely tannic structure from the grape skins and 30% estate-grown bitter sweets in the blend. Up next we have our first Ciderkin. This is a very cool product, a classic old-time response to today’s desire for lower alcohol options, and a great fit with our mission for sustainability. Ciderkin is made by adding water to the pomace from apples that have already been pressed, letting them sit overnight and then doing a second pressing. It’s a labor intensive process for us (thanks Clayton) but is a great way to re-use a product that would otherwise go to waste (or compost). The result is a light, low alcohol cider (2.8% ABV) with a surprisingly full flavour of fresh and stewed apple. Perfect for the holiday entertaining season!
